Frequently Asked Questions

F.A.Q’s

Who are your tours for?

Our tours are designed to be suitable for anyone, aged 5 upwards. Each individual tour though, is specifically tailored so that people with similar needs and expectations will be grouped together.

For example those looking to take part an intermediate MTB Tour would be expected to have a level of fitness and MTB handling to be able to ride comfortably for 6+ hours a day on multiple days, in hilly terrain, some of which would be considered technical in nature, including natural single track, small drops and obstacles, and on a variety of natural and man made surfaces.

Those wishing to  undertake one of our introduction to bikepacking MTB Tours would need to be over the age of 5, able to ride a bicycle unassisted, and have enough fitness to ride for up to 4 hrs during a full day, with breaks. The nature of the terrain on this tour would be gently rolling, with some short climbs and descents. Riding will be on a variety of natural and man made well prepared surfaces

Each tour in its its own way provides a challenge for those participating, without taking them outside the capabilities of their current level of ability or fitness. The aim is for a tour to provide enough challenge to make it a rewarding and fun experience, but within  the current capabilities of the individual rider.

We want our customers to keep coming back to us, we want them to be able to improve their riding abilities over time, and feel challenged at times. On all tours there will be a progressive approach, aiming to improve over the ride.

Overall though we also want our riders to have fun, in a relaxing atmosphere. After all it’s a holiday!

If you are in anyway unsure which type of tour will most suit your riding, please do get in touch, we will be more than happy to help point you in the right direction for your needs.

What type of tours do you run?

Our tours are roughly divided into Road bike, Mountain bike (MTB) and Gravel bike tours.

Each of these categories are further split into tours aimed at differing requirements for  the riders taking part.

Introduction to Bikepacking

These tours are for newcomers to the sport of Bikepacking, or for those who wish to tour at a gentler pace, and over shorter distances. The terrain on these tours will be rolling in nature, with some shorter climbs and descents, and on well prepared natural and man made surfaces.

There will be informal pre ride instruction on how to prepare your bike, luggage, equipment, and yourself for a Bikepacking ride. Once on the roads and trails the pace will be steady, with frequent breaks, and in a relaxed, un pressured atmosphere.

The real aim of these tours is to give riders the basic skills they need  to be able to undertake their own Bikepacking trips, and to give them a taste of the real sense of freedom that travelling by bike in beautiful surroundings can bring. Groups sizes are a maximum of 8 riders plus our guide/mechanic.

Introduction to Bikepacking tours, family friendly

We want to inspire the next generation of Bikepackers, and our family friendly introduction to Bikepacking tours aim to do just that. These tours are similar in format to  our other introduction tours, but with more emphasis on developing the skills of our smaller guests. More frequent breaks, shorter rides, fun games on and off the bikes and terrain that’s going to challenge little legs, but not intimidate them.

The accompanying grown ups will be expected to join in the games, and be magnanimous in defeat when thrashed by the little riders!

For these tours group sizes will be a maximum of 8 riders plus guide/mechanic. Children will need to be aged 5 or over, and be accompanied throughout by a riding parent/guardian. All riders should be able to confidently ride a bicycle unassisted (without stabilisers)

Intermediate Bikepacking tours

These tours are for those familiar with the sport of Bikepacking, or for regular riders who wish to try their hand at Bikepacking. These tours cover longer distances. The terrain on these tours will be more mountainous in nature, with some longer climbs and descents, and on well prepared natural and man made surfaces.

There will be informal pre ride instruction on how to prepare your bike, luggage, equipment, and yourself for a Bikepacking ride. Once on the roads and trails the pace will be steady, with frequent breaks, and in a relaxed, un pressured atmosphere.

The real aim of these tours is to give riders the opportunity to improve their Bikepacking skills, and to give them a taste of the real sense of freedom that travelling by bike in beautiful surroundings can bring. Groups sizes are a maximum of 8 riders plus our guide/mechanic.
